All contributions to the journal are rigorously refereed and are selected based on the quality and originality of the work.</p> Pharma Springs Publication en-US International Journal of Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Medical Sciences 2583-0953 Assessment of Contributing Factors and Wound Severity in Diabetic Foot Ulcer - A Prospective Study <p>The study aims to assess the factors contributing to the development of Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) and wound severity of ulcer in DFU, and also to assess the type of dressing used and provide relevant patient care education to patient with DFU. It is a prospective observational study conducted for 6 months, from November 2021 to April 2022 in the in-patient and out-patient facility of the surgery Department at ESIC Hospital, Nacharam, Hyderabad, Telangana in India. A total of 103 subjects were included in the study. The contributing factors of DFU and wound severity were assessed by Wagner-Meggitt classification system. This study concluded that along with hyperglycemia, hypertension (55.33%), traumas (33%) are the leading risk factors for DFU. The highest number of patients falls under moderate numbness. Various types of dressing used in different severity grade patients was assessed and was found that highest type of dressing used was saline dressing. Based on wound severity specific counselling points were provided to the patient to progress the wound healing process. Counselling regarding diabetic diet and lifestyle modification was provided based on the GRBS (Glycemic index) of the patients.</p> Aligeti Lokesh Ekkelli Manohar Reddy Ekkurthi Madhuri Illutam Srimaneesh Raja Rajeswari B Archana P Copyright (c) 2022 2022-07-15 2022-07-15 2 3 87 92 10.26452/ijcpms.v2i3.319 The Nephroprotective Activity of Elephantopus scaber Linn Roots, Leaves, and Flowers on Gentamicin Induced Nephrotoxicity <p>The goal of the current investigation was to determine whether an ethanolic extract of <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> had nephroprotective properties. Animals into five groups, including Group I control, Group ii negative control, that also started to receive Gentamicin 100mg/kg B.W., i. p, O. D. For 12 days, For 12 days, Group iii began to receive a kind <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> extract of the roots. Group IV received a section of the flowers. Group III received an <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> extract of the sources, and Group IV received an <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> extract of the flowers. Gentamicin 100mg/kg, i.p., O.D. plus <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> leaf extract, 100mg/kg B.W., was administered to Group V for 12 days. It also tested the in vitro antioxidant and free radical scavenging operations of various extracts Nephrotoxicity associated with gentamicin. Overall study findings indicated that <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> root extract successfully prevents kidney damage brought on besides gentamicin-induced Nephrotoxicity while also going to lower physiochemical urinary but also serum marker enzymatic as though creatinine, urea, but also uric acid. In gentamicin-treated animals, the kidney histopathology examinations found that <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> root extract had a protective effect. The findings showed that pretreatment with an ethanolic extract of <em>Elephantopus scaber</em> roots might help avoid kidney injury in experimental mice caused by gentamicin.</p> Shirisha Gundarapu Vijay Reddy Mokalla Enumula Vinay Vyshnavi E Copyright (c) 2022 2022-07-18 2022-07-18 2 3 93–101 93–101 10.26452/ijcpms.v2i3.322 A Study on Drug Utilization Evaluation of Anti-Hypertensive’s in the Cardiology ICU Department of a Tertiary Care Hospital <p>Arguably, the most significant risk factor for cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and renal illness is hypertension, which may be changed by prompt diagnosis and prompt treatment action. The Joint National Committee (JNC) on detection, assessment, and treatment of blood pressure is the body that proposes the guidelines for the management of hypertension. This 6-month, cross-sectional observational study included 219 participants and was conducted at Yashoda Multispeciality Hospital in Secunderabad. The purpose of the current study was to assess the usage of anti-hypertensives in hypertensive cardiology patients admitted to the intensive care unit at a tertiary care facility. According to the study, a large percentage of male hypertension patients also have co-morbid diabetes mellitus. Alpha+beta blockers were the most often given class of antihypertensive medications, followed by calcium channel blockers and diuretics. Regarding patient therapy, 27.0% of patients were given monotherapy, while 53.0% were given combination therapy, of which 20% were given FDCs.
